Underfloor heating warms your space from the ground up, delivering even, gentle heat across the entire floor area—much more consistent than radiators or air systems.
There are two main types:
Electric (Dry) Systems
Hydronic (Wet/Water-based) Systems
Electric Underfloor Heating (Dry System)
🔹 How It Works:
Uses electric heating cables or mats embedded beneath the floor surface.
Connected to the mains power and controlled via a thermostat.
Advantages:
Lower installation cost (especially in single rooms like bathrooms or kitchens).
Quicker to install – ideal for renovations.
Thin profile – minimal floor buildup.
Fast heating response time.
Great for small or occasional-use spaces.
2. Hydronic Underfloor Heating (Wet System)
Circulates warm water through pipes embedded in the floor.
Heat source can be a boiler, heat pump, or solar thermal system.
Controlled by thermostats and valves.
Advantages:
Lower operating costs – very efficient for whole-home heating.
Compatible with renewable energy (e.g., heat pumps, solar).
